Meals on Wheels

Kennett OAKS Senior Nutrition Center provides healthy affordable meals to seniors Monday-Friday, and delivers frozen box meals to the homebound through their Meals-on-Wheels program. The center is under the umbrella of Aging Matters, Cape Girardeau, and through them the meals at Kennett OAKS is partially subsidized through the Older Americans Act and Medicaid. However, the center is partially subsidized, that means donations are very important.

In May 2022, with the cost of food and fuel rising, each plate produced cost us approximately $7.11 to make, but we ask only for a suggested $3 donation to help with the expenses.  That is very little for the amount of food served, that includes the entre, dessert, and drink (with refills).

Kennett OAKS Senior Nutrition Center is more than just a place to eat, it provides a social atmosphere, exercise room and walking track, a computer room, a library, and much more through various programs. We are in the process of remodeling the connecting building that will house various activities from quilting to painting to ping-pong and pool.

To help us continue to serve seniors in Kennett and the surrounding are, please consider donating to the center. Come by and take a tour of our wonderful facility. We always visitors.

Sincerely,
